Rihanna and Chris Brown together again? Friends concerned: Favorite people

It appears Chris Brown,
Rihanna getting together

Chris Brown's friends think it's a bad idea. Rihanna's acquaintances think it's a very bad idea.

And Jay-Z is "deeply disappointed."

Still, it looks more and more like Brown and the woman he assaulted three years ago are getting back together.

Sources told TMZ.com that their friends are doing everything they can to keep it from happening, but as one regrettably put it, "You can't hold back love."

Not that Jay-Z, the longtime mentor of Rihanna, wouldn't like to try.

"Jay was absolutely disgusted by what Chris did to Rihanna," a source told RadarOnline.com. "Jay doesn't understand how a man could ever lay hands on a woman; it just goes against who he is and about. Chris is absolutely dead to Jay, he wants nothing to do with him ever. Now that Rihanna is hooking up with Chris and recording songs with him, Jay is deeply disappointed in her actions. He can't fathom why Rihanna is doing the things she is doing.

"Jay wonders what kind of message this is sending to Rihanna's young female fans. Rihanna knows how Jay feels about Chris, but she doesn't care, she is going to do what she wants."

Sacha Baron Cohen calls
the Oscars out for snub

Sacha Baron Cohen planned to show up! at the Oscars on Sunday as his character, Adm. Gen. Shabazz Aladeen, in the upcoming movie "The Dictator." Which, for anyone familiar with Cohen, isn't much of a surprise.

However, the academy told him he would not be allowed to attend in character (a stance it later backed down on, again, to no one's surprise).

Which, somehow, seems to have played right into Cohen's publicity-savvy hands.

In response to his "ban," he went on the "Today" show Friday (as Aladeen, of course; he also posted a video on Deadline.com) and said, well, read on:

"While I applaud the academy for taking away my right to free speech," he said, "I warn you that if you do not lift your sanctions and give me my tickets back by 12 p.m. on Sunday, you will face unimaginable consequences."

Consequences, he said, such as a hike in oil prices, which actually aren't that hard to imagine.

The actor's pain management issues date back to 2006, when he was shooting "300."

Paula Deen defends deal,
to offer somewhat lighter fare

Paula Deen, a month after her announcement she had A) diabetes and B) a lucrative deal with a diabetes drug manufacturer, says she's ready to offer up less calorie-laden versions of her recipes.

Well, up to a point, at least.

"I am who I am. But what I will be doing is offering up lighter versions of my recipes," she said. "But you know, I'm Southern by roots. I was taught (to cook) by my grandmother and nothing I can do would change that."

And she was quick to dismiss those who questioned her becoming a well-paid pitch person for Novo Nordisk and its expensive drug, Victoza.

"Yes, I am being compensated," she said. "It's the American way. But I am taking a portion (she didn't specify how big a portion) of that compensation and giving it back to the (American) Diabetes Association."

Because filming is done so far in advance, it could be up to two years before her "lighter versions" are shown on her TV show.

Chris Tucker owes
$12 million in back taxes

Maybe it's time for "Rush Hour 4."

The state of Georgia tacked another half-million dollars on the taxes owed by Chris Tucker (who starred with Jackie Chan in Rush Hours 1-3), meaning that, between Georgia and the feds (he didn't pay his taxes from 2001, '02, '04-'06), he now owes just over $12 million.

More specifically, $12,164,504.08, but who's counting?
