We were all shocked when Rihanna spoke so openly about her feelings about Chris Brown in her interview with Oprah Winfrey and now we know why because the couple were reportedly testing the public to see how fans would react to news that not only were the couple still in close contact, but were in love as well.

The 24 year-old broke down in tears during the emotional and honest interview, claiming that she would also love Chris and that he was the love of her life.

I still love him she told Oprah in tears, adding Weve built a trust again and thats it. We love each other and we probably always will.

The couple have rumoured to be hooking up in secret for over a year now and reportedly the interview was the first step towards going public. If they think people reacted well, then we could see a very public Riri and Chris Brown reunion soon.

A source told Grazia magazine: "Rihanna and Chris discussed this before she went on the show. It was to test the waters and see if the public would accept Rihanna's love for Chris.

"Both Chris and Rihanna knew it would not be easy for the public to accept them again as a couple."

The couple were rumoure! d to bot h be attending the MTV Video Music Awards next week, but the 'Yeah X3' star has since pulled out of the planned appearance despite being up for awards on the night.

It is thought he wants to avoid a confrontation with rapper Drake who he had a fight with in a New York club earlier this year. No doubt he wanted to avoid girl drama as well, with current squeeze Karrueche Tran.
