Chris Brown reportedly gave ex-girlfriend Rihanna an emerald ring to represent the time they had spent apart, sources have confirmed.

Chris Brown and Rihanna are, according to reports, set to rekindle their romance after the R&B singer violently attacked the 'S&M' singer three years ago.

Rihanna's relationship with Brown ended after he attacked her on the eve of the Grammy Awards in 2009 and was subsequently sentenced to five years of probation and six months of community labour.

However, despite admitting to Oprah Winfrey that the assault "was embarrassing [and] humiliating", it seems as if Rihanna is readily able to forgive her ex.

Sources have told Grazia magazine that Chris Brown has presented Rihanna with a special gift to show his commitment.

"It was apparently really intense and emotional... There was certainly kissing and some tears from Rihanna."

"By the end, Chris presented her with a ring set with three emeralds: one for each year they'd been apart. Rihanna is so happy, it's what she's wanted for a long time. It's her dream."

Really? It's her dream? But what about the fact that Rihanna told Oprah Winfrey that her former lover's unprovoked assault left her feeling "dark"?

"I was resentful. I held a grudge. I was dark."

We really hope that Rihanna isn't set to rekindle her romance with Chris Brown and that all of these reconciliation rumours are just that: rumours.
