Entertainer Chris Brown was the main attraction Sunday at Wise High in Upper Marlboro as the pop superstar played in the Goodman League Round Ball Classic before a crowd estimated at 5,000 spectators.

Brown, a Virginia native, displayed his skills on the hardwood and finished with 11 points and six assists for the Goodman League All-Stars, who fell to their NBA counterparts, 155-131.

Travis Hyman, a former Bowie State standout who played on the Goodman League team, was on the receiving end of a pair of Brown alley-oop passes that the 7-footer managed to slam home.

Hes a lot better than I thought he was so it was real cool though, Hyman admitted about the Kiss Kiss crooner.

That was just fun, said David Hawkins, a D.C. native who plays professionally overseas. Hes a Grammy, platinum, triple platinum artist, but he actually had some game. He actually could play, and for him to come out for the fans, that was a good look for us.

The event featured several NBA players including former Washington Wizard guard Gilbert Arenas and former DeMatha standout Josh Selby. Arenas and Selby, a Baltimore native, are both currently members of the Memphis Grizzlies.

The event marked a reunion of sorts for Friendly High graduates Sam Young and Chris Howard who played on opposite sides. The former high school teammates led the Patriots to back-to-back state titles in 2003-2004.

I remember it like it was yesterday, said Young, a member of the Philadelphia 76ers! . It was a good time for us, especially as kids. When you can accomplish something like that, man its big.
