Chris Brown has thanked Cheryl Cole for her public support after she said the world should forgive him for assaulting Rihanna and "move on".

After seeing Chezza's comments, the Turn Up The Music singer first took to Twitter to contact the Geordie babe to write: "@cherylcole your amazing! I appreciate you."

Breezy later deleted the message, but replaced it with the tweet: "@cherylcole thanks for the support and believing in me as an artist!"

The Girls Aloud singer had compared the controversial 23-year-old R&B star to the young offenders she deals with during her charity work in the UK, telling In:Demand With Alex James: "I work with people all the time with my charity that are transformed characters.

"They've done things when they were young that they regret, they've been to prison and they're now upstanding members of the public and help our community and are amazing people.

"I think because he's in the limelight... he hasn't had the chance to be forgiven or to forgive himself because we haven't let him. Now that she's come out and embraced him again, I think it's time we all moved on. That guy is talented as hell."

Meanwhile Cheryl, 28, is reportedly sc! heduled to pay a flying visit to the Cannes Film Festival - where she grabbed headlines last year in a cleavage-revealing dress - on Sunday.

Chezza, who has a small role in forthcoming movie What To Expect When You're Expecting, is appearing at the festival as an "ambassador" for hair products company L'Oreal.

A source told The Mirror: "Its hectic for Cheryl at the moment, launching her comeback single, Call My Name, which happens to coincide with the release of the film.

"But she planned to go to Cannes a while back, along with the other LOreal spokeswomen.

"Her visit is being timed with military precision. She is jetting in, attending a party and leaving in the time it takes most people to unpack.

"The cost is astronomical but it's important Cheryl's there."
