Chris Brown is selling Pit Bull puppies on the website CB Breeds, a move that animal-rights groups are none-too-pleased about.

According to The Huffington Post, the Yeah 3x singer is under fire for selling the puppies for $1,000 a piece by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles.

"There is no reason to breed and produce more Pit Bull puppies when there are Pit puppies waiting for homes in every shelter in America, said the groups President, Madeline Bernstein, in the statement. "The $1000 price tag for a Chris Brown puppy could be better spent money saving the lives of shelter animals."

However, a rep for the singer told The Associated Press that the dogs hes selling are form a litter of puppies that were born at his home in Virginia.

His rep makes it clear that this is not a new business venture for Brown, rather a way to ensure that the puppies make it to good homes.

The dogs, which his mother promoted on her Twitter account, all come with registration, vaccinations and a performance pedigree.

Browns mom, Joyce Hawkins, tweeted a link to the website where the seven dogs are for sale.
