Rihanna, Chris Brown 'Reunion' Joke Lands Soap Stars In Trouble

British soap stars Ryan Thomas and Ashley Taylor Dawson have been blasted for making a joke about Rihanna's reunion with Chris Brown.

The star is rumoured to have rekindled her romance with Brown, three years after they split over his physical assault against her.

Dawson, who plays Darren in Hollyoaks, had written "I hear Rihanna is back with Chris Brown... well if you can't beat 'em, join 'em!!"

Thomas - Jason Grimshaw in Coronation Street - then retweeted it.

Teresa Parker, a member of Women's Aid, told The Sun: "Jokes like this one trivialise a very serious issue.

"We have worked with Hollyoaks and Coronation Street to help develop domestic violence storylines and we hope they explain to the actors involved why domestic violence just isn't funny."

A TV source commented: "Both lads are going to be in trouble. It's madness to post comments about one of the most highly publicised cases of domestic violence when your wage comes from shows filled with domestic violence plotlines."

A Hollyoaks spokeswoman told the paper: "This is not the sort of comment we would ever sanction. We will be talking to the actor," while an ITV rep said: "We will look into the situation on Monday."
