Chris Brown Shoots XXL Cover, Talks Redemption
After taking a year off from doing interviews and magazine features, it seems as though Chris is doing some revamping when it comes to his image and is ready to finally speak out and tell his story. He was spotted on the set of an XXL cover shoot recently getting styled up by Ugo Mozie. His ex-girlfriend Karrueche was also spotted on set while assisting the style team with pulling together Chris various looks.
This past weekend, Chris was featured on MTVs This Is How I Made It series, where he dished on his modest childhood as a choir boy in a small town of Virgina as well as his rise to super stardom. He also spoke on the Rihanna drama and how it changed the publics perception of him completely. While speaking on how much it meant for him to win his first Grammy, he said:
Youre always gonna know me for situations and life obstacles. To have that [Grammy] achievement and to go through peoples whole opinions of me changing of me you know. Having to get personal opinion back and having to gain personal success back. Its not all the way back. Its one of my most humbling experiences. I cant hate people for making a judgement on me or making a decision of liking me or not liking me. Al! l I can do is try to be better as a person and Im good with knowing that everything isnt always gonna be perfect.
During the special, he also dropped these gems of inspiration:
I think people get stuck in what you cant do. Life is what you make it. Just because somebody says its this, doesnt mean its that. Do what you have to do. That kind of attitude shaped me to be the artist that I am.
My story, my life, my legacy can hopefully show [people] that once youre down, that doesnt mean that youre down forever. You never let up.
