US singer Chris Brown is set to play Dubai on Dec 9

US singer Chris Brown is heading to Dubai in December for his first concert in the Middle East, event organizers confirmed Wednesday.

The young R&B star, whose hit singles Run It!, and Yo (Excuse Me Miss), have sold millions of copies around the world, will perform live at Dubai Festival City on Dec 9 as part of his worldwide tour for his latest album.

F.A.M.E is one of four albums released by Chris Brown has since he entered the music industry in 2007 at the age of just 16, with earlier titles including Chris Brown, Exclusive and Graffiti.

The award-winning singer has since partnered with a slew of popular R&B artists, such as Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes and Pitbull.

The UAE has welcomed a number of international stars in recent years, most recently US popstar Britney Spears, who headlined Abu Dhabis post-F1 celebrations.

Rock singer Liam Gallagher, Beatles star Paul McCartney and rapper Snoop Dogg, are also among the big names that have performed in the emirates.

Other bands tipped ! to visit the Gulf state this year include UK group Coldplay and old-school pop band East 17.
