With Rihanna out of the country on her 777 tour, we wondered whether Chris Brown would take his friend-with-benefits Karrueche Tran to the American Music Awards as his date. Though he opted to bring his mom Joyce Hawkins, weve learned that Karrueche was also in the house at Nokia Theater on Nov. 18 to support Chris, keeping a low profile!

A source close to Karrueche tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively, Quiet as its kept, Karrueche was there. Our insider adds, She kept a low profile and was backstage not trying to be all in front of the cameras or with ChrisIt wasnt about them being together or anything like that, it was just a night to have fun.

The friend says that Karrueche and Chris didnt see each other during the night, as she wanted to respect his time with his mom. No, she didnt even see him. Crazy, I know, but they text! ed a litt! le and that was it. She was just glad she got to watch him perform and support, our source says. Im telling you though, it wasntabout them being together or anything. Chris was with his mom and [Karrueche] respects that and gave them their space. Thats it and thats all.
