Chris Brown meets domestic violence victims at Los Angeles festival

Chris Brown has spoken to parents and children affected by domestic violence at a charity festival in Los Angeles.

The singer co-hosted a back-to-school event with domestic violence intervention and prevention organisation Jenesse Center, as well as its youth advocacy group The Change, last week.

Brown, who was convicted of assaulting ex-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, told Gossip Cop: "It's in my heart to show my fans, my friends and family and the families at Jenesse who stood by me they were right to give me another chance. I'm working hard to make them proud."

Speaking of their work with Brown and his mother Joyce Hawkins, herself a victim of domestic violence, Jenesse founder Karen Earl said: "Chris and his mom have spent many quiet hours at our facilities, no cameras, no special attention or entourages."

Brown's work with the organisation apparently dates back to 2009.

The 'Don't Wake Me Up' star was forced to defend himself yesterday when his new tattoo of a Mexican 'sugar skull' was wrongly speculated to depict Rih! anna's b eaten face.
